What is Love?

Love is an all permeating energy which is far above what humans consider as mind. Within love itself, there are different octaves of existence. It is the greatest energy of the universe(s). It is natural, all-pervasive, greater than human understanding but yet it can be contacted and active in our lives. This energy can be found deep within us. It is an energy that will transmute and raise the vibrations of all the basic life forces. It is a power that is not understood.

Many of us are intimately involved in healing work. Miracles are actually a correct use of prayer. We are transmitting energy from the Unseen to the seen through the power of love. The ancient Yogis call the energy, "Prana" or "The Universal Life Force." I call it the Mother-Creative Energy, the Holy Spirit. The carrier of this energy is pure Love. It is possible to transmute disharmony through the introduction of harmony. For us who care, we must be diligent and work on our own personal purification. It is then that we can offer a greater and continual service to others. In other words, work on ones self first and then apply the understanding, the enlightenment in selfless service to others. I am not talking about emotion as it is commonly understood. What is required is a developed right state of awareness that will radiate to another in a very practical manner. We need to learn how to use power correctly.

To be successful, we need to break away from allowing the five basic senses to control our behavior and body. Pure love is objective not possessive. It can love something but not necessarily like it. Pure love is an energy to be used to heal, raise up and bless. When we are filled with pure love, we are radiating its power when we are awake or asleep. It is a natural part of who we are. Everything responds to pure love. I have found plants and animals to be very receptive. There is an invisible life occurring in your indoor plants and outdoor gardens. I have a river walk behind my home that I truly am thankful for. It is such a pleasure to appreciate and send love to all the life along the path both seen and unseen. The feeling that comes over me is nature's response and the best word to describe it is love.

The Many Manifestations of Suffering

When we finally realize that it is up to us to stop suffering whether it is personal or impersonal, something good will transpire. Suffering is caused through ignoring universal law and not having access to spiritual knowledge. The consequence of spiritual ignorance and attachment to people, places and things results in sickness and death. Some people are just too lazy and prefer to remain in an attitude of complacency and refusal. If we know the truth, knowing implies that we must be responsible. It is a destructive choice to know and not take action. Not wanting to know what is real and what is false is failing the soul. The result is also destructive. A remedy is available at all times. We must learn how to see and hear and speak with our inner spiritual senses.

The teaching of immortality is to awaken. To be awaken is not to be totally dependent on the physical faculties. If you really want to understand anything, ask that your inner sight, hearing and speech be awakened. Suffering will stop when you spend quality time in contemplation and respect for Nature. Learn to sense through your soul. Then you will witness reality wherever you look. The choice is always yours. How shall you use intelligence and imagination? Give your path direction upheld by passion and love and suffering will eventually depart.

To be in harmony is what we desire. To create a conscious and loving relationship with the higher Nature is what we yearn for. It can be looked at as a musical relationship with the world, to enter into resonance, to be in tune with all that Is. When you live in fear, it is impossible to experience harmony. The same is true of sadness and doubt. It is when we feel divided that dualism controls us. We all desire peace but peace does not arrive on our doorstep until we are in harmony with ourselves. It is fruitless to try to harmonize with the world and others if our own consciousness needs a tune-up. Force your mind to reach higher levels. Honor who you are. Do not forget!

Choose a Mantra

A mantra can be used as a healing tool. There are mantras for healing, abundance, protection, removing obstacles, making the right decision, enlightenment, increasing energy, karma and many other desired results. They obviously are not the only way or even the best way to solve a problem and yet, repetitive mantras create an energy that will work for you. I personally gravitate to the divine sounds recorded by the ancient sages of India and Tibet. We are very complex beings. Mantras like so many other wonderful tools soften problems and create a mindset for healing.

Mantras help in managing emotions. All the really good teachers emphasize mastery of the lower nature, which involves mastery of emotions. If you are depressed, mantra practice can help you regain clarity and a sense of peace and purpose. We can do mantras for other people and help them find the right course of action. They are a simple and ancient tool that does not cost us money...only persevering and time. Positive action is required for anything that is good. Knowing about a useful tool is not enough; we need to remember to use it. Why not experiment with a mantra and find out what it can do for you? Use it in the morning and if you have time again in the evening. Choose a specific length of time and observe what happens to your own energy and life experiences.

One of my favorites is the Om Gum Ganapatayei Namaha. It means, Om and salutations to the remover of obstacles for which Gum is the seed. The correct pronunciation is: Om gum Guh-nuh-puh-tuh-yei nahm-ah-ha. This is a universally acknowledged mantra that is very effective for clearing away obstacles of all sorts. This mantra also works to overcome misunderstandings and to get a relationship back on track. It will definitely bring a sense of spirituality into a relationship if you both use the chant. It is not necessary for both of you to chant but, it will remove any hidden or underlying hostility toward the other and bring the feelings to the surface in a joint meditation. Meditating together for a thirty day period is a good thing. Any hurt, resentment, grievance or other lingering negatives can be addressed because a harmony is increased within you and your partner.

Attainments

In the Sutras, there is a section on attainments. It states that attainments do not necessarily equate to freedom. A power, which is called attainment, suggests we are becoming powerful but it doesn't mean we are perfect or have achieved a balanced state of mind. There are twists to everything. Something for all of us to think about. There are many people who have psychic gifts, powers of various types and their lives are a mess.

In Sutra 3.16, it states we can become a conscious time traveler and learn to see either the past or future as if it were actually happening in the present. This is a very serious sutra. Where is your mind? Everything appears to go back to the state of the mind in the moment. Try checking on your thoughts at least once an hour. Meditation and chanting will bring you into the moment if you remain conscious. In other words, don't bliss out but stay in the moment. Breathing exercises help tremendously with our attaining a focused mind.

In Sutra 3.21, we are urged to look into our selves. We need to seriously look at the images we create of other people. Are they really true? The images we create of others can be false. It often is what we want to see or we project our own image on that person. One of the most powerful tools is to choose to create harmony, because harmony is the basis of creation. If we do not understand harmony, we will continue to be influenced by the memories of the past or look to the future. Work on attaining harmony that is useful and long-lasting and the present becomes an activity that is in harmony with the forces of nature, with the luminous spirits of the invisible worlds as well as with human beings.
