I was taught that God was separate from me. Wrong! Through firsthand experience I know with a certainty that I was taught incorrectly. I read recently where a spiritual friend commented about alchemists. Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov stated that alchemist had a better understanding of spiritual work than many so-called spiritual people who concentrate all their efforts on escaping matter and separating the body and spirit. Alchemy does not cut humans in two: into a spirit, which alone is worthy of our attention, and a body that should be ignored, despised and mistreated. No...spirit and matter, the spirit and the body, have work to do together.
It took me time to accept on every level of my being that the body is not the spirit's tomb. Or, to quote Omraam again, the body is only the spirit's tomb for those who have not understood the meaning of the first verse in Genesis: 'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.' Yes, not just the heavens but the heavens and the earth. Heaven represents 'spirit' and earth represents 'matter.' How many people really think about this statement? If our Creator projected both, they evidently have something to do together. To separate the body from the spirit appears to be the norm for most religions. When you really think about this, it becomes clear that to separate the two is to separate a house from its roof: exposed to bad weather, it collapses, and what does the roof do if it doesn't have four walls to rest on?
I love the soul and mind of Omraam, a dear being who is no longer in the flesh. He always said things clearly and to the point. He understood the obvious, which few do. As long as we indulge in any form of abuse toward the soul, mind and body our house is divided and we will most likely fall a part. Honor your body and mind, watch very carefully what you put into it and what you use it for. The body is a temporary vehicle, but a precious one, so the spirit may express, expand and be itself in matter. When we honor ourselves as a whole package and not a divided energy, we finally learn to live fully in the light of understanding, beauty, wonder, joy and yes, peace.

The Cause of Evil
The doctrine that God can be incarnated in human form is found in both religion and philosophy. It is said, that when goodness grows weak, evil increases. What does this mean? The bodies of human beings are affected by the good or bad states of their minds. The answer to this question is discovered when we research and ultimately discover the Light. The divine serenity and good will of the many is one of the reasons the world does not go completely mad. In the psychic universe, the same holds true. If the psychic world is fed obsessive thoughts of evil, egotism and rebellion, it will connect with humans whose behavior is negatively emotional, mistreating the mind and body and off balance. The human mind affects consciousness regardless of its density or visibility.
When I speak of density, I am referring to the fact that matter is Light condensed. When a soul lives in matter, it psychologically distances itself from the Source, God, the Limitless Light. Imagine an immense circle with a point at its center. Living in a world of matter we are on the periphery and not at the center, which emanates the light. Souls who have manifested in matter lose their center. The only way they regain it is through personal seeking, striving, loving and being. So, if a soul does not know that it has distanced itself from the Center Light, it reacts in confusion, forgetfulness, sorrow and in many cases anger. These reactions are self-destructive. Much of the sorrow today is a direct result of humans understanding on a very subtle level that they are missing something very valuable. They are missing grace because they judge themselves from the outward appearance and not the inner light of perfection.
Yes, I am saying that the ugliness, disrespect, selfishness, horror and cruelty that can be experienced by a soul whether it is in a physical body or existing on a lower astral plane is the result of this sense of lack and separation. You see, when Nature and life is not respected or understood from the center point, the doer's light is diminished. Dying is all about diminished Light. When I look at people with my inward spiritual eye, the intensity of their light is obvious. The light of their consciousness can be barely visible or it can be like a waterfall spilling over into life itself. We are light first. The physical body came later. If we do not take care of the inner Light, the mind, emotions, body, relationships, work and whatever we do is harmed. It cannot expand because the light is temporarily capped. From a cosmic point of view, all of us must move towards the Center, the Limitless Light, Father-Mother God, our Source. Church, temple and ashram attendance is not the answer. The answer is within your heart and mind and how you allow your light to shine. If it is basically snuffed out, you die on every level through negative thoughts and associations. Your mind attracts to you what you think and feel about all day. Looking at evil from this perspective, ask your self whether any form of negativity is an outside influence directed at you or is it that your inside needs a divine scrubbing.

Entrapped Spirit
It is a good habit to remind yourself periodically that your spirit is entrapped in matter. The more you lovingly care for the body and mind, the greater your awareness, light, beauty and health. The care you give to the outer opens the way for the inner to express freely as you.
Hate, fear, greed, doubt and all the intense emotions that are opposite of love, light, wisdom and beauty create future imbalanced experiences. These experiences can be altered, neautralized when the mind and soul awakens to the truth of its Real Identity as light and spirit. The ego-personality is not the authentic you. Knowledge of our spirit identity, understanding and being pure in our intent, compassionate and a genuine love for life can wipe clean all the confusion and nonsense that is keeping the soul separated from its Source. Separation only happens in consciousness. The personality moves away from the Source, not the opposite.
The only true life is one that is lived consciously as spirit. If the individual spirit feels limited in its embodiment and unable to express its full potentiality, it will find a way to discard the form. Light in every electron desires to expand. If the personality and the way it has lived the physical life has been disabled, it will find a way to discard the form. When you really look at this thought closely, you will understand what is meant by the expression 'the living dead'. The inner light of the individual is in bondage. A soul has a choice and if it is happy with its choice in discarding the body, it has made the right choice. Regardless of the choices made, the soul continues onward towards its goal, which is conscious perfection. Eventually, the cumulative experiences will satisfy and the soul's journey ends in conscious oneness with its own spirit/light and the expansive Light of its Creator.
